It supports efficient graphical compression, sound forwarding and file transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installing X2Go client<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>For Windows or MacOS, download and install the <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.x2go.org\/doku.php\/download:start\">appropriate X2Go client<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Linux, install the <code>x2goclient<\/code> package supplied with your distribution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For FreeBSD or OpenBSD, install <code>x2goclient<\/code> from the ports collection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Configuring X2Go client<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Launch the X2Go client and click on the <em>New Session<\/em> icon.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.teach.cs.toronto.edu\/x2go_img\/new_session.png\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be presented with a <em>Session preferences<\/em> dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Choose a meaningful <em>Session name<\/em>, such as <code>teach.cs<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <em>Host<\/em> box enter either <code>x2go1.teach.cs.toronto.edu<\/code> or <code>x2go2.teach.cs.toronto.edu<\/code>. You may want to pre-configure both servers so that you can choose one or the other later.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your <code>teach.cs<\/code> user name in the <em>Login<\/em> box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose LXDE for <em>Session type<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <em>OK<\/em> to save the session.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.teach.cs.toronto.edu\/x2go_img\/edit_session.png\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Connecting to teach.cs<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Your newly created session will be in the list of sessions in your X2Go client. Click on the session name to connect.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.teach.cs.toronto.edu\/x2go_img\/connect.png\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Type in your teach.cs password and click OK to initiate a connection.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.teach.cs.toronto.edu\/x2go_img\/password.png\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first time you connect, you will be presented with an <em>Host key verification failed<\/em> message. This is normal and should only happen the very first time you connect to the server.
